Do famous writers count? I've met a lot of them: Neil Gaiman, Billy Collins, Salman Rushdie, Tony Hoagland, Clive Barker, Peter S. Beagle, Jim Carroll, Z.Z. Packer... as far as movie stars and their ilk go, I've only seen Arnold Schwarzenegger (pre-Governator) and Brandy Norwood.

... you DID know posting that would be a prompt for everyone else to reply with their sightings, right?

What, no line about "You HAVE to post this on your own LJ, do it dammit grrrr"?

Good, I hate those. :}

Yeah, me too. Silly things. I'd rather just let it grow or not organically.

That's precisely my beef with The Game. (Y'know, "If you think about The Game, you lose.") The idea of a game that you play by trying to forget about it is interesting enough on its own; it doesn't need "Rule 1: You are playing the game [whether you like it or not]" tacked on. All that does is trigger my antibodies.

I'm not always a fan of xkcd, but their twist on that was fantastic: "You just WON the game! That's it!"

Robert Redford - at the coffee shop I used to work at
Seth (comic artist, Palookaville) - a regular at my old coffee shop
Paul Bellini (Kids in the Hall) - coffee...again
Neve Campbell - coffee in Guelph, her hometown
Ed Robertson (Barenaked Ladies) - cd store
Lawrence Gowan - a regular at my cd store, would only order cd's if I was serving him ;)
Ashley MacIsaac (musician, fiddler) - a few bars in Toronto, skinny dippin at Hanlon's Point, and he spotted 'me' at Wellesley Station two years back ;)

My only real claims-to-fame are that I've shaken hands with Her Royal Highness Princess Anne, taken Alyson Hannigan and Anthony Stewart Head [of Buffy fame] for a walk in the woods with wolves, and spent half an hour talking to [the late] King Hussein of Jordan.

Oh yes, I also appeared on TV with The Revd. Lionel Fanthorpe some years ago.

Indeed. He was a radio ham [callsign 'JY1'] who would come on-air irregularly, happy to talk informally and off-the-record to anyone who the troposphere just happened to make available.

NATIONAL celebrity anyway. I have chatted (IRL anyway) with a few game developers I idolize and with one or two DJs. But that's not Hollywood...

Wait a minute, I'M famous! Everyone I know knows me!

And I spend SO MUCH TIME around myself -- I've really started to buddy up to me -- and in a PERSONAL and INTIMATE way, if you know what I'm getting at? I think you do.

There's gotta be some hella major cachet in that!

And last night, we saw photographer Bill Henson in a Japanese restaurant. He recently had child pornography charges against him dropped. Overzealous cops, works seized from galleries - fairly ridiculous.
